PERONAS ON THE PLATFORM

A bar by the train tracks with Soviet vibes, craft beer, and a giant Tony Soprano

PERONAS

Peronas ("platform" in Lithuanian) isn’t just a bar - it’s a full-on experience.

Set right next to Vilnius Train Station, it's an industrial hangout that blends old-school grit with hipster edge.

You’ll find beer on tap, good music, a crowd that mixes locals and travelers, and a giant statue of Tony Soprano casually leaning outside. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard, but still feels cool.

Also, there's a small kitchen that does good food.

Quick history

The bar sits in a former Soviet-era warehouse attached to the station’s cargo yard. It opened in the 2010s and quickly became a cult favorite for locals and tourists looking for something a bit more raw and real than your average cocktail bar.

They used to have more parties on the train tracks, but since Vilnius has grown, health and safety has (sadly) become more of a thing.

Why visit?

If you’re after something different from sleek bars and touristy restaurants, this is it.

The train platform location gives it a gritty, cinematic vibe — especially at sunset when the light hits the old tracks. It’s also a great spot for casual drinks, local beer, and late-night DJ sets.

It's very Vilnius. A bit industrial, a bit rough round the edges, chilled but good energy. Well worth checking out.

How to get there

Peronas is right next to (I mean, it's basically part of) Vilnius Train Station. Head through the main station entrance and out onto the platform, then take a right. Tony will be waiting for you. You can’t miss him.

Tips for visitors

  • Great spot for a drink before or after a train trip
  • Go around golden hour for photos — it’s got serious atmosphere
  • The crowd leans local, but travelers are totally welcome
  • Music can be loud in the evenings — if that’s not your vibe, visit earlier
  • Check their social media for pop-up events and live sets
  • On weekends they have clubnights and DJs
  • Over the big bridge you'll find Bėgių Parkas (RailwayPark) with cool old trains, worth a visit as well
