Welcome to the unique, cosy, compact, green, historic capital of Lithuania 🇱🇹
It's time for you to discover Vilnius!
The center of the city with a beautiful cathedral and old bell tower. Plus, a miracle stone to make a wish.
The heart of Vilnius — cobblestone streets, baroque churches, cozy courtyards, and way too many cute cafés. Btw, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The most famous viewpoint in Vilnius. A 360° panorama of everything that makes the city tick - including the old town, the new city, all the way to the TV tower.
We've built Discover Vilnius as an easy-to-use, one-stop-shop for visiting and exploring the city.
A character-filled, hulk of a building straight out of the movies. It was a working prison until 2019, and now it's a rough-cut arts and events hub, with a cool outdoor space. Take a night-time tour if you dare.
A quiet, forested hilltop right in the city center. Incredible views, especially at sunset. Take a look at the hidden amphitheatre as well.
A grungy bar/pub on the train station platform. Grab a drink, sit on an old leather couch and watch the trains go by. Oh, and there's a giant Tony Soprano.
The airport is super close — just 15–20 minutes from the center basically. You can take a Bolt (local Uber), taxi, or train.
Bolt is the easiest: they don't really have Uber here. Download the Bolt app. It’s safe, cheap, reliable, and you can use the app just like Uber.
Pro tip: Avoid taxis that are waiting outside the terminal — they often charge more.
There's buses and a train as well - more info in the link.
You can use a card almost everywhere — even small cafés, bars, and markets. Most people prefer it tbh.
But it’s smart to carry a bit of cash (€10–€20), just in case.
ATMs are easy to find and withdrawals are safe.
For sure! Vilnius is one of the safest cities in Europe for tourists.
The center is very walkable and well-lit, even at night. Just take normal city precautions: watch your bags in crowds and avoid overly quiet areas late at night.
Personally I've never experienced anything and one of the reasons I like it here so much is that it's very safe.
The Old Town is super walkable — most of the best sights are within 15–20 minutes of each other.
For longer distances, Bolt taxis or scooters are easy and cheap.
Buses are affordable and reliable, but can take a bit of effort. There's a good app you can use for buying tickets and getting directions — more info at the link below.
Yes — especially younger people and anyone working in tourism, hospitality, or shops etc. You’ll have no trouble in restaurants, museums, or hotels.
Local tip: Older generations may not speak much English, but they’re often helpful anyway. A few words like “Ačiū” (thank you) go a long way.
An important part of Vilnius summer life, Midsummer takes over the courtyard of the Palace of the Grand Dukes all through July. Expect excellent live music and to get a feel for Vilnius cultural life.
Also, Benjamin Clementine is playing. Nice.
Patron saint of travellers and the city of Vilnius, the festival of St. Kristupas (St. Christopher) celebrates live music in all its forms. Gardens, churches, courtyards and other venues around the city become a home for classical, world and inter-genre music. There's stuff happening all through July and August.
Yasss! It's Corgi time. Held at the famous Vingis Park Stadium, it's a must-see. Racing, creative costumes, mightiest voice competition... not to mention good food and drink for the humans. There's other fancy events for sure, but this may well be the Vilnius hightlight lol.
